Paramahansa Yogananda

WHAT TO EXPECT
In all SRF services, a leader guides the group through periods of silent meditation and prayer, and periods of devotional chanting. The Sunday reading service also includes readings from the works of Paramahansa Yogananda. During the last portion of the service, the group may pray for those who are in need of healing, and for world peace. The leader may also direct the group in practicing the healing technique as taught by Paramahansa Yogananda.

GUIDELINES
*Please note that if you are feeling unwell, with a cough, fever, or sore throat, we ask that you refrain from attending in order to protect the health and wellbeing of all.

Before the service:

-
Please silence all electronic devices.
-
Arrive early enough to find a seat.
-
If you know you will have to leave early, please sit in the back of the chapel.
-
Wear clothing that is made of soft fabrics that do not make noise. Nylon jackets and rain gear are usually noisy. Cotton, wool, polar fleece etc. are usually quiet fabrics.
-
Because some people are allergic and highly sensitive to strong fragrances, please kindly refrain from wearing scents, such as perfumes, colognes, or essential oils.

During the service:

-
Before entering the chapel, pause within and interiorize to calm the mind and body.
-
If arriving late, please do not enter during periods of prayer or meditation. Instead, wait until a chant begins and enter as quietly as possible and take a seat towards the back.
-
If you need to get up during a service, it is preferable to enter and exit during times of chanting.
-
Be as still as possible during silent periods.
-
If possible, only use the restrooms, or take a drink of water, stand, or do gentle stretches during the chanting periods.
-
Practice the meditation techniques so that they are inaudible to others.
- When possible please try to attend the entire meditation service.
